This book was commissioned to accompany the exhibition “Jean Brusselmans, Painter by Nature” at Bozar, Brussels (02.10.2026–31.01.2027).
Jean Brusselmans is probably one of the best kept secrets of Belgian painters during the interwar period. And unfortunately, he never got the recognition he deserves. The wonderful exhibition also includes works by Rik Wouters, Victor Servranckx, Constant Permeke, Giorgio Morandi, Gustave De Smet, Fernand Léger, James Ensor, Piet Mondrian, and Kristof Santy.
